I am super excited to be back on board for Term Two. I am itching to get back to spending our school days together!!! A massive thank you to you (the students) and your families for allowing me the time to get my health sorted, it has not been an ideal start to the year for us and I am sorry that I have needed time out of the classroom. I have really missed seeing all of your lovely faces each day.

I am busy planning and researching awesome things for our classes learning journey - I have been attending some amazing sessions by expert teachers and educators, in the holidays I get to attend a GAFE (Google Apps for Education) Conference in Wellington and will be busting with fresh ideas to explore with you all! I am resting too but teachers don't really ever switch off completely...

Term Two is a busy one - we start Student Enrichment Time (SET) and have lots of learning to cover. Our focus for mathematics this term is problem solving (multiplication and division); measurement; number lines and fractions. In writing we will be looking at using Storybird to create beautiful stories and poetry; letter writing; informational texts; procedural writing and reviews. For reading we will be focusing on deeper understanding of texts - you guys are pretty amazing at decoding words you don't know, but we need to focus on WHAT the words actually mean...so we will be building our vocabulary knowledge whilst looking at inferring, evaluating and reacting to texts.

Our blog will be a space where we can keep our parents, caregivers and family in the loop; share our learning and aspects of our school life. We will be looking at setting up individual e-Portfolios that students will be responsible for updating and keeping a record of their learning to share with you day to day, week to week.

Please remember this is a safe space for students and family - we LOVE to read positive comments from those in our community (please check out our blogging guideline page for our 'rules' to keep this a positive space for our learning).

Ngā mihi nui,
Mrs Kale
